This lecture in biochemistry addresses monosaccharides.  The structures of glucose, galactose, ribose and fructose are discussed.  Linear and cyclic structures are discussed along with cyclization reactions.  Carbohydrate vocabulary such as furanose, pyranose, aldose, ketose, hexose and pentose is also addressed.
