Nursing students are faced with stressors and demands
as they begin clinical practice. Providing the needed tools for coping with
these stressors can start in the simulation prebrief through the use of a
mindfulness intervention. Nursing educators play a vital role in enhancing
students’ attentional efficiency which is necessary for safe nursing practice.
Simulation educators can empower students to initiate self-care interventions
to manage anxiety during simulation activities and in the practice settings.
With the growing interest in the application of mindfulness in education,
strategic placement in simulation can be relatively easily adapted and
integrated into nursing education.
